Edit Springburn's Breeze tower

SPRINGBURN is famed for it's industrial past and rich heritage.
The building believed to be the oldest in Springburn is Balgray Tower, which is also known as the Breeze Tower.
Dating back to around 1820, the tower was named after it's original owner, the tea baron Captain Breeze.
It was built by Moses McCulloch in the style of David Hamilton, a prominent Glasgow architect of the 19th century.
The B-listed gothic villa's 60ft tower, accessed by a 50-step spiral staircase, offers some of the best panoramic views of the city centre and River Clyde beyond.

Who remembers in the early 70's playing the game were we crawled slowly up the hill towards "The Castle" to see who'd be first to touch the wall or see who was the fastest running DOWN the hill while being chased by the two Alsatian dogs who lived there LoL!

I remember we used to get rhubarb from the castle grounds and then we were chased by the two alsatians.

Sorry guys. It was my two German shepards that chased you. My parents Alexander F Sutherland and wife Helen and their two daughters Isabella and Marsha lived there for 8 or 9 yrs before going to live in Bishopbriggs then moved in 1967 to Australia. My father had a fish shop in Springburn Rd for as long as we stayed in Springburn opposite the Boundry Bar. You guys are lucky the dogs used to chase the kids up the apple trees and dad would leave them there for a while with the dogs sitting at the bottom waiting for that one mistake. Jim Mitchell, it was the 50's as I was 6yrs old when we moved to the Tower and we sold it when I was 14yrs old. Keep in touch Signing Off From Australia Isabella Sutherland Eadie Will post a photo later
